A Novel by Jim Lee
A Tale of Mystery, Magic, Madness, and Murder
“Trespassers never come back from Mondoku land. Not alive.”
When Sherrie Chastain flies to Africa to make a forced reentry into her father’s life, a plane crash thrusts her into the world of the near-mythical Mondoku, the secretive, deadly guardians of the deep jungle. Trespassers never come back from Mondoku land. Not alive. Sherrie won’t either without help. But the only help available is ‘the Tracker,’ a mysterious, paranoid, unstable outsider who may be even more dangerous than the tribe itself.
Trapped between the tribe, the Tracker, and a mysterious band of mercenaries, Sherrie must not only survive, but also assist the Tracker in conquering an even darker evil that hides within the closed world of the Mondoku. The monster called the Rema-Kiru.
This is a stand-alone story, but it is also the prequel to the Fire in a Distant Sky trilogy. With a nod towards the Indiana Jones novels and Heart of Darkness, N’Doki will appeal to those who love the thrill of exploration and high-stakes adventure.
Note: Beyond the enhancement of my original sketches on the web page, AI was not used in any way in this novel.

An intense, action-packed adventure, full of unexpected twists, with an ever-tightening plot that will keep you reading long after you should have turned out the lights.
You will feel the heat, see the shadowed, vine-entangled jungle paths, and hear the drums. You will feel the perceptual distortion brought on by darkness, terror, and torchlight. But more than that, you will feel the fear when confronted by madness and an ancient evil, thousands of miles from home, unarmed, and completely alone.
The story brims with relatable and believable characters whose backstories inspire and explain their reactions under intense stress. Even when that reaction proves to be life-threateningly wrong. Your heart will race as hard as Sherrie’s as she tries to escape an evil she doesn’t understand, and had only heard about on the dying breath of a scared old man.
What she saw, she still won’t describe.

N’Doki is only the beginning. The trilogy that gives this world its name is still being written — the next chapter arrives when it’s ready, not before.
